classes!
In general the flow of my classes moves from mobility to stillness. I introduce only techniques that I have practiced extensively and know to be safe and effective.
Vyayam Flow Yoga
A calmer, saner way to total functional fitness.
Flowing movements that anyone can learn coupled with the breath cultivate energy and bring it into the body. Circular isometric and bodyweight movements strengthen the body and mobilize the joints. Mindful attention to the breath and the fluid movement clears the mind and resets the emotions, while variations in intensity and expressiveness keep it all very interesting. In the space of an hour, you’ll develop overall body strength, coordination, balance, relaxation, flexibility and focus with a higher level of energy that will revolutionize the way you move in the world.
- develop your lung capacity and ability to direct the breath as needed
- melt fat while strengthening, lengthening and toning the tendons and muscles
- relieve back and neck pain
- clear tension from the hip and shoulder girdles
- expand joint mobility in all planes of motion (particularly in the spine, sacrum & neck)
- deeply oygenate every cell at the molecular level, revitalizing every system in the body
You’ll sweat (but not like a pig), build focus, fortitude, and strength, and leave class with more energy than you came in with. Learn to move with your breath. The health of your body and mind depends on it.
The 3 Gems: Vyayam + Asana + Yoga Nidra
Breathe and open the body. Balance and strengthen the mind. Relax and rejuvenate the spirit. This is an comprehensive 1.5 hour class for those interested in maximizing the health of every aspect of their being.
Vyayam strengthens the breath and the body, opens the joints, and develops the concentration needed to hold juicy yoga poses firmly and comfortably for a period of 1 to 2 minutes — the time needed to gain the full benefits of the steady and comfortable pose (asana) on the musculoskeletal, endocrine, mental/emotional, and chakra energetic systems. The deep rest and rejuvenation of Yoga Nidra then allows the benefits to sink in.
Each of the 3 gems is given an equal amount of time in the practice. For example, in an hour long class, 20 minutes each; in a 1.5 hour class, 30 minutes each.
Yoga Nidra
A course in transformative relaxation. More restful than sleep. Stronger than willpower. Easy as pie. Learn a systematic method of complete physical, mental & emotional relaxation that brings all of your energy into focus on achieving lasting success. In regular sleep, we lose consciousness and upon awakening, we may or may not feel rested depending on the dreams or other mental activity that has occurred randomly during sleep. In Yoga Nidra, also known as lucid dreaming, you simply you simply rest on your back and follow a voice that guides you to ever-deeper states of relaxation and into the world of dreams while remaining aware and in control of your mental activity. From this place of deeply relaxed awareness, it is possible to release hidden blockages and rewire the unconscious to energize your life goals instead of acting as a drag against them.

Relax and enjoy the ride
That’s because the unconscious mind plays a pivotal (though for most of us hidden) role in the perceptual, motivational, and behavioral choices we make on a daily basis. These daily choices add up to the level of success, fulfillment, and happiness —or their opposites — that we experience in our lives. So if you have something you are trying to achieve in your life, some physical, emotional, mental or spiritual goal you’re shooting for, the regular practice of Yoga Nidra can make sure it happens — and faster than you may imagine.
How to prepare The practice is done reposed comfortably on the floor. Please do not eat a heavy meal or consume coffee or other stimulants close to class time as these may render the body unable to go deeply into the practice.
